A professional hunter accused of failing to stop a*Minnesota dentist from killing Cecil the lion branded the case*against him "frivolous and wrong" Wednesday.
Arriving at a court in Hwange, Zimbabwe, Theo Bronkhorst told reporters he believed he had the right permits, and did not break*the law.
Bronkhorst faces charges of failing to prevent an unlawful hunt. He faces up to 15 years in jail if convicted.

"(Hunting) is an integral part of our country and it's got to continue," he said. "And if we do not use wildlife sustainably, there will be no wildlife."
His trial was postponed to Sept. 28. Another guide*was released without charges last week.
Bronkhorst acted as a guide for*dentist Walter Palmer in the July 1 killing of Cecil, a much-loved lion in the Hwange National Park. Palmer has said he believed the hunt was legal.
Leaving the court, Bronkhorst said:*"I feel sorry for my client. He is a good man. He did nothing wrong," according to Agence France-Presse.
Outside the court house,*Givemore Muvhiringi, Bronkhorst’s lawyer, said: "My client is not guilty. The hunt was legal and that is the position we are going to defend when the trial opens,” the Associated Press reported.

Cecil's death caused an international outcry after*Palmer, 55,*allegedly paid about $50,000 to track and kill the 13-year-old big cat. Cecil, who was part of an Oxford University study,*was allegedly lured out of the national park with bait before being*shot with a crossbow, tracked for 40 hours, then shot dead. Zimbabwe's environment minister*has called for Palmer to be extradited.
On Wednesday, police in southwest Florida said*vandals spray painted the words "lion killer" on the garage door of Palmer's*$1.1 million*vacation home and left*at least seven pickled pigs' feet on the driveway, the AP*reported.*Police have opened an investigation and a*security company has been hired to protect the property, the news agency said.
American,*Delta and United Airlines have announced they are*refusing*to transport*certain animal trophies.*Zimbabwe officials on Saturday announced a ban on hunting of lions, leopards and elephant in areas outside of Hwange.
