MELBOURNE, Fla.*— Three girls were killed in a single-vehicle*Interstate 95 crash in Florida on*Monday night after a vehicle carrying 11 people suffered a tire malfunction and ended up near a perimeter wall, Florida Highway Patrol said.
The girls killed in the crash in Titusville, Fla., about 40 miles east of Orlando, were all under 18, according to the highway patrol. Six others were sent to a trauma unit. The female driver of the 2006 Dodge Durango sport utility vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Early Tuesday, the Florida Highway Patrol*identified the driver as 34-year-old Latorya Brown of Leesburg, Fla. She was wearing a seatbelt, the highway patrol said.
One of the injured was a male toddler who was thrown over a 30-foot high perimeter wall and was found after troopers heard him crying. The toddler is currently in stable condition.

Troopers said the SUV probably suffered a malfunction in its front-left tire as it headed northbound on I-95.
"It may have either blown or something else may have gone (wrong) with that tire," said Steven Montiero, a Florida Highway Patrol spokesman. He also confirmed that it was a single-vehicle crash.
The highway patrol reported that the driver was unable to maintain control of the northbound vehicle and traveled into the southbound grass shoulder, where the vehicle began to overturn. Four of the 11 occupants were ejected. Three of those were pronounced dead at the scene.
Northbound lanes of Interstate 95 were closed for a couple of hours Monday night after the 6:40 p.m. ET crash.

Troopers are investigating why so many people were in the Durango, which has third-row seating but probably does not have enough seat belts for all 11 in the vehicle.
"We're looking at at least six rear passengers, two up front. There's a mess-up in numbers here," Montiero said. "Obviously someone was not belted. We're going to begin to look into that and determine what kind of charges will go from there."
