To hear the front-runners describe it, the fall presidential campaign could pit*"the Donkey of the Decade"**vs. "Crooked Hillary Clinton."
Clinton, appearing on a New York radio show Monday morning the day before the state's primary, was asked on Power 105.1's "The Breakfast Club" whether Donald Trump scared her.
She said he did, adding:*"I think he's the Donkey of the Decade," borrowing the "Donkey of the Day" gimmick the show's hosts, Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy, use to describe, in a less-than-flattering way, someone in the news each day.
"He does scare me because what he's saying that he would do is wrong for our country," she said.*"It's not only offensive to people and kind of makes you cringe — it's dangerous."
She added that she thought his efforts to*"play to the worst instincts of people" were a "violation of American values and New York values, for sure."
Clinton herself has been a recipient of the "Donkey of the Day" label, which came up earlier in the show.
"I'm a Democrat, so being Donkey of the Day is a little bit of a mixed blessing," she joked.
Trump, for his part, has been deploying a new moniker ("crooked")*against Clinton in recent days. On Sunday, he tweeted of the Democratic front-runner: "Crooked Hillary Clinton is spending a fortune on ads against me. I am the one person she doesn't want to run against. Will be such fun!"
