Istanbul airport attack: What we know

The death toll has climbed to 36 after three suicide bombers blew themselves up at Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul.
Authorities are trying to piece together what led to the attacks and how many<span style="color: Red;">*</span>casualties resulted from the blasts. Here's what we know so far:
It began with gunfire.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Three men arrived at the airport in a taxi. They opened fire on passengers before blowing themselves up.
“People were shooting from one side and we all ran the other way and then the bombs went off and people started running the other way and there was more shooting and we came out,” Adam<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Keally,<span style="color: Red;">*</span>an American from the Boston area, told CBS News.

At least 36 killed.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Dozens more wounded.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Initially, a senior Turkish official said nearly 50 had been killed, but officials later clarified to say the death toll had reached more than 30 and that it is expected to climb.
Initial evidence points to the Islamic State.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Although nobody has claimed responsibility for the attack,<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said initial indications suggest the Islamic State group was behind the attacks.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a statement that the incident<span style="color: Red;">*</span>“shows that terrorism strikes with no regard to faith and values."

Ataturk airport is the third busiest in Europe.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Ataturk is the largest airport in Turkey and the third busiest in the continent.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>In 2015, the airport had more than 41 million travelers pass through,<span style="color: Red;">*</span>according to the airport's website.
The airport bombing is the latest of hundreds of attacks since Paris.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>We all know about San Bernardino, Brussels and Orlando, but there have been hundreds of terror attacks in the months since the Nov. 13 attacks in Paris.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Many of them have rattled the streets of Istanbul over the last several months. Here's a list of several recent major attacks in Europe.
